My mom has been on the lookout for a pair of purple pants recently, so I picked these up along with another pair at the thrift store yesterday, figuring at $2 a pair, I might as well give her options. When the weather turned a bit cooler today, I thought, what the heck, I'll just wear them once. After half an hour, it was clear I'll be keeping this pair for myself (sorry, Mom!). So much for my generous intentions.

I've been having so much fun rediscovering all the clothes I have stored in the attic up here, including my 'Miami Vice' blazer. I must have worn this white old lady blazer to work at least three times a week last summer; it just seemed capable of elevating every casual summer outfit to something at least vaguely office appropriate, and today it inspired several members of Chris' family to ask where I was going 'so dressed up.' Apparently there's nothing like cropped sleeves and sharp shoulders to make you look classy!

  12.  Hahaha, anytime girl! Although I will let you in on my big thrifting secret - go as often as you can, and look at everything. I have plenty of thrifting strikeouts, but I try to maximize my odds as much as I can - and I really owe my Mom some thanks for these pants, I rarely bother with pants while thrifting (hard to tell just by looking if they'll fit and too much trouble to try on) but now I know that it can definitely be worth the effort!

  14. Thanks Kerry! I seem to have a really hard time finding blazers that are actually small enough for my shoulders, so this one was definitely a lucky find.

  15. Thank you! I'm hoping my mom prefers the other ones I bought, so I won't have to feel too bad about keeping these. :)

  16. Purple, white, and hot pink?  Yes, please!  You look gorgeous and super chic in that blazer and, as you pointed out, quite nicely dressed up.  The sharp shoulders are key. :)

  20. Do it! It's a bit of a struggle to find one that isn't too Golden Girls, but definitely worth it!

  21.  Hee, if only I'd actually had, you know, someplace to go. Other than the side of the house, of course.

  22.  Thanks Kyla! For some reason, purple hasn't figured very prominently in my wardrobe over the last few years - but after falling in love with these pants, I might have to make it more of a staple in my color palette. :)

  23.  So true! I suspect this will be a definitely workday staple once we have to get back to the real world (yikes!).

  27. Thanks! The shoes are actually more orange than pink, although I can never seem to get the color just right in pictures. Nonetheless, they are definitely bright - I always get comments on them!

  29.  Thanks Anja! Unfortunately for me, it turns out my mom prefers these pants too! So we've decided to share custody and just trade them back and forth every few months. :)
