Double stripes! Triple if you count the odd blonde streak I have at the back of my neck (which my mother still refers to as my 'skunk stripe').
Along with my weird trip-anticipation desire to 'save' the things I'm planning to pack, lately I've had an urgent sense that I should be trying to make the most of those clothes I'm not planning to bring. When we headed up to Massachusetts, I imagined I'd spend our entire visit frolicking in the host of summery dresses and wedges I'd planned to unearth from my boxes in the attic. Unfortunately, the weather had other plans, and the majority of our visit was far too cool for airy dresses. (Of course, now that we're headed back to VA and the temperature tomorrow will be pushing 100, I didn't really have room to bring back anything I'm not planning to take on the trip. Sigh.) When it did finally start warming back up yesterday, I jumped at the opportunity to break out this striped dress and wedge combo, both favorite pieces of mine over the last few years, but ones I'd never yet thought to pair together. I love the mix of horizontal, vertical, and diagonal stripes found in the bodice of this dress, and the wider stripes and neutral colors of these espadrilles felt like the perfect complement.

ReplyDeleteHaha, no, unfortunately I bought them there last summer. I took a look at their website, and although they don't seem to carry these striped ones anymore, they do have some similar peep-toe espadrille styles right now.

ReplyDeleteHaha, no, it's not too random - I'm actually surprised I haven't really been asked before! I've been growing out a super-short pixie haircut for almost two years now, and after the first four months it got to a certain awkward, shaggy length so I just started wearing it up every day. At this point I probably haven't worn it down in a year and a half! Now that it's getting long enough, I'm looking forward to getting a proper haircut soon and going back to wearing it down most of the time.
ReplyDeleteWe're still making some of our plans, but we will definitely be visiting the Netherlands - as a couple of recent architecture grads, it's pretty much a required stop for us. :)
It is definitely getting longer (slooooooowly), but the real secret of my bun? There's a sock in there! I got a comment a few weeks ago complimenting me on my "sock-bun" - I'd never heard of it, so I googled it and it turns out to be the best technique I've seen yet for getting a nice big bun with shorter hair!

Ref the post above - I have my hair up most of the time and as well as buns I like to wear it in what I call a "cheat" French Twist, which is basically my ponytail twisted round on itself and secured with a stick barrette or a long spring clip barrette. I'm sure you'd rock that style too!
