necklace - vintage, Brooklyn flea market / striped shirt - Gap / braided belt - vintage, thrifted / red jeans - thrifted / woven flats - UO

I mentioned on Friday that I'd had an incredibly fruitful thrifting trip. I went to two of my favorite thrifts, looking for colored jeans, an olive blazer, work-appropriate t-shirt alternatives, a mustard pencil skirt, a Fairisle sweater, the perfect jean jacket, and, of course, stripes of any kind - and I came away with these red jeans, an olive-y military blazer, two bright silk tops, a cobalt silk button-down, a cobalt wool pencil skirt, a navy breton-striped sweater, and a kilim and leather belt. I couldn't believe my luck! I was especially thrilled to find these bright, bright jeans; I love the colored denim trend, and I've already got at least a dozen different outfits in mind to wear them with. However, I just happened to be wearing this necklace, shirt, belt and shoes on my thrifting trip, and they went so well with these pants in the dressing room on Friday that I immediately reached for the exact same pieces this morning.

  6. Dang you.  I've been wanting red jeans, but I can't find any thrifted.  I
was even going to break down and buy some at F21, but could find any
there either.  I'm jealous, but loving your outfit.  You have steeled my
    resolve to find red jeans.

  14. Well, hello there, my stripe-loving sister from another mister! I actually have this shirt, as well, except mine is blue, and you are totally making me want to wear it with my bright blue pants.

I'm impressed with how well you stuck to your list. I like to make lists to control my shopping but I never really stick to it!

  15. I also have that top (I love it!) and have been wearing it with a pair of white and blue vertical striped (teeny stripes) shorts.  I don't do a lot of print-mixing but I love the stripes combo.

  16. good scores, i always found the best stuff while thrifting in MA. my cherished rust cord blazer and a tartan tuxedo blouse, for example!

will you dry clean or handwash your silk shirt? i got a vintage teal silk shirt over the summer, and it had a bit of mothball/dry cleaner chemical-y smell, so I ended up hand soaking it in cold water with a bit of woolite and white vinegar. (i was too lazy/busy to bring it to my local green dry cleaner). seemed to do the trick smell-wise, though some of the color did bleed.

  19. This looks wonderful. I love red, and this is a great way to do a lot of red without looking like a fire engine. The pants are lovely with the stripes and neutral shoes. Congratulations on a great thrifting trip!
