Well, once again, it's been a little while since I blogged. My apologies if this post seems a little rusty (har har). I hadn't planned to go on this little blogging hiatus, but these last few weeks have been absolutely packed - and while I have been wearing clothes every day (which, I'll admit, sometimes feels like an accomplishment), between the limited number of work-appropriate options currently stuffed in my suitcase and the inevitable Sophie's choice of weekday mornings ('Brush my hair, or wolf down some cereal?'), regular photos have lately faded to a fond memory. We managed to snap these on Saturday after checking out the Halloween Dog Parade in the East Village - there were some pretty terrific costumes (Lady Gaga dog! Shark Taco dog!), but I think my favorite was the couple that came dressed as Paul Bunyan, with their pug dyed blue as Babe the Blue Ox!
While the change of season has made my limited wardrobe feel even smaller, I have definitely been enjoying the opportunity to piles on lots of comfy layers. I picked up this oversized striped sweater a couple of weeks ago and it's become a fast favorite. It gives my lightweight jackets just the right amount of warmth, and I love how perfectly it matches my rust-colored skirt.
Nice to see you! :) Hope this settle-back-into-regular-life season finishes soon so you can slow down and enjoy life a bit more.
ReplyDeleteP.S. My thought upon seeing the second picture? "Awww, she's so pretty!"
I love the burnt orange mixed with the light grey. Such a great combination & I'm definately stealing it for autumn here in Australia (if not sooner!).

Love this outfit! The color scheme looks great on you :) Also, your hair is just marvelous.
ReplyDeleteGreat outfit! Love greys with a bit of colour, and the background is perfect, too!
ReplyDeleteLovely bangles! I love vintage jewelry. :)
ReplyDeleteThere are such perfect fall colors in this outfit - I love it! :)
ReplyDeleteRust is a great colour on you! I also rather like those boots..

Did you get a chance to go to the White Elephant sale in Princeton a couple weeks ago amongst your current busyness? Curious to see if you scored anything particularly good; I went but didn't find anything for myself, but I'm not very good at thrifting in that way, I guess.
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you! I am definitely hoping things settle down too, although I think it will be a few more weeks before I can really relax - we still have to move all our stuff into our new apartment, which is going to be no picnic!

Thanks Kelly! I love this rust color too, and I think definitely you don't have to wait until autumn to enjoy it - I wore this skirt a lot last spring with pale pinks and it felt completely seasonal. :)

Thank you, Karla! It's been almost two months since I got my haircut, but I definitely feel like I am still getting the hang of styling it wavy.

Thanks Charlie! I have definitely been gravitating more and more to these sort of 'autumnal' colors these days.

Thanks Carrie! I am definitely a huge fan of vintage jewelry too, and I just love these. My boyfriend picked them up at a junk shop in Brooklyn to cheer me up when I was having a bad day - it worked like a charm. :)

i like your backdrop (oh yeah, and the outfit isn't too shabby, either!). ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks Jenn!

Thank you! I love these boots, I was having the worst time finding just a simple pair of flat boots last year and so I was thrilled when these appeared on etsy in my size!

Thanks! It was a pretty rad costume, the dog was wearing little bull horns and everything. :)

Oh, I wished I'd been able to go but I just didn't have time! I haven't been thrifting at all this last month, I think I'm starting to exhibit symptoms of used-clothing withdrawal...

Haha, yeah, I thought it was pretty funny to take pictures at such a distinctive building, but only show the one teeny weeny little concrete corner. I'm a sucker for some board-form concrete though. :)

love love everything about these all colors!!!
ReplyDeleteLove your hair, and love the pug dressed as Babe! Too cute.
ReplyDeleteThank you!

Thanks Vanessa! I am already scheming about a costume for my dog next year... :)

Thanks Anja! Yeah, it's been crazy getting back to working, I feel so busy all the time - I don't know how so many people manage to work full-time and still blog every day!

Thanks Suze! I've missed blogging, I hope I can start squeezing outfit photos back into my routine a little more often. :)

Wow, love that orange! Amazing what a little pop of color like that can do! I love the layering in this outfit, and I'm kind of obsessed with the parachute coat. :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous skirt, I love how you layered everything. And your hair looks lovely in this post. :)

As I told you today, I was pretty worried you had fallen off a cliff, but now I'm back to being jealous of your awesome locations for photo shoots and your amazing hair. Seriously, though, friend -- I hope things calm down soon for you and C., and that you're able to weather this storm of transition as peacefully as possible. Give Winston a big snuggle from all three of us!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean. I am currently experiencing a somewhat similar situation. Hope we get back to a normal schedule soon!! Hang in there!
ReplyDeleteWord on the unplanned blog break. I feel like I'm barely keeping my head above water in my actual life, so I can't imagine adding in blogging on a regular basis anymore. Talk about Sophie's choice- blog or Swahili? Blog or sleep? I'm such a cruel mama to ditch my blog, but it has to be done.
ReplyDeleteAnnnnyyyyway, I love love love this outfit. It's just perfectly TOE- layered sass in gorgeous neutrals with a statement color. And your hair- fabulous! I want my crazy layers to look wavy like that!
Cute outfit! Love the layering and the boots!
