I'm sorry for the major photo-overload today - but can you blame me with this handsome guy by my side? We're spending the next few weeks in a temporary sublet in New York, and unfortunately we can't bring Winston up to join us until we find a more permanent home. Since we knew it'd be a few weeks 'til we saw him again, I thought I'd bring him out to co-star in some outfit pictures we took over the weekend, and he was a total champ! I think he was honestly pretty bored by the whole procedure, but I did manage to encourage some goofy faces out of him (and, ahem, myself) with a little ear-scratching.

  10. military jackets seem to be quite popular today, looks like it's almost time for full-out fall! Too bad it's over 90 degrees here; wish I could join in.

  11. Yeah, so this outfit? POIFECT. I love the casual-ness of it. Totally something I'd wear, all day, everyday. All the time. YESYESYES.

Also, Winston? ADORABLE. (And you're not bad, either!) ;-)

  16. i like your loafers... every time i read the word thrifted next to my favorite piece of an outfit, i get sad about the general lack of thrifting near me. boo...

  20. Oh I LOVE a fashion blog post that also features a dog. However, then I tend to focus more on how adorable the dog is than the poster. You're outfit is great, but your dog has stolen the show!!

  23. Thank you! Definitely a favorite of mine, I love any combination of stripes and military, and I'm just in love with these loafers.

  24. Oh definitely, it just suddenly got cool and lovely here. Summer always seems to stretch a few weeks too long, so I'm thrilled to have a real season-change this early!

  25.  Yeah, I think this is totally going to be the go-to formula for me this fall. Good thing I have this absurd squirrel-cache of stripes and military jackets to draw from!

And yeah, he is kind of the handsomest dog I know. It's those big brown eyes. :)

  26. Ha, yeah, it looks a lot more intimidating than it is. It's called a pinch collar, and it's actually a really common training tool developed by a vet as a safe and humane alternative to choke collars (which can be dangerous, especially for smaller dogs). The collar stays quite loose unless the dog pulls hard, in which case it emulates the corrective nip a mother dog will give to her puppies when they are out of line. I have tried it myself around my leg, and it's not painful but it does get your attention. Winston only wears his when we're walking him on the leash. He's really well behaved most of the time, but on the rare occasion that he decides he *must* chase a squirrel, the collar helps prevent him from pulling me into traffic.

  27. Thanks Kate! I am such a sucker for cuffed/cropped styles, even though they're supposedly unflattering for someone my height. I love wearing them anyway! :)

    ReplyDelete
  28. Thanks Kate! He's such a sweetheart, definitely the only downside to all the traveling we've done this last year is that we've been missing our big yellow dog!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Haha, he actually has a special noise that he only makes when you scratch his ears, we call it the 'ear groan!'

    ReplyDelete
  30. Haha, I know what you mean - every time I see that on a blog I'm like, "Dang, now I can't get the same thing!" That's too bad there aren't many thrifts in your area, maybe you could sneak some thrifting in while visiting friends and relatives in other places.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Me too! I even get suckered in by cats, despite being allergic. I know that petting them is going to bring on the itchy eyes and sniffles, but I just can't stop myself!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Yes! No idea when we'll end up finding a permanent place here - it could be next week or next month! But I am hoping it's soon, I need a real closet of my own again!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Haha, I knew that was fairly inevitable - after all, how could I compete? Winston's just a big blond heartbreaker!

    ReplyDelete
  34. You look effortlessly chic! And Winston is soooo adorable! I love that last picture! Aww, I'm sorry you'll have to be away from him for a few weeks, I'm sure the reunion will be full of puppy kisses and snuggles!

  35. I love that jacket....super cute! I wonder if they still have it (if it's from the season). And Winston is so handsome. He is just chillin like he has does this before....great pictures!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Thanks! Unfortunately I bought it a couple of years ago, so I doubt they have the same one anymore.
And you're right, Winston looks like such a pro!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Ha!  I got an allergy test done a few years back, and they said that I was mildly allergic to dogs and highly allergic to cats..... wasn't sure how I was gonna explain that to my two cats and dog! I guess I grew out of it by always having animals growing up.  Good thing though, because in addition to mine there is always a stray at my house that I just had to pick up- I really am a sucker.
