Just a simple outfit for a warm day of thrifting. (My apologies for the double straps, no matter how many boxes of clothes I root through, I can't seem to find a strapless bra.) This is more or less my standard outfit formula for a trip to the thrifts - shoes that are easy to slip on and off, a fitted top over which I can try on jackets or blouses, a belt for experimenting with the fit of oversized pieces, and a loose, lightweight skirt or dress so I can pull things on underneath without flashing strangers. Both the shops I visited today had dressing rooms, but it never hurts to be prepared, and being able to shimmy in and out of a few 'maybes' in an abandoned aisle can be a big timesaver.

While we were at the Salvation Army, a tornado warning for the area came in over the radio. After getting home, we took these photos in easily under three minutes, then hustled back inside just before a pretty serious storm rolled in. It looks like we're pretty unlikely to see any funnel clouds around here, but we are certainly getting some pretty spectacular thunder and lightning for now. I love listening to big summer storms pass over, and with thunder-phobic Winston still down in Virginia, for once I get to really enjoy it.
