trench - H&M / striped shirt - H&M / braided belt - vintage, thrifted / watch - Arkanoplatz flea market, Berlin / red jeans - thrifted / brogues - Primark

Some photos from yesterday, offered (almost) without comment. I wore this for a rainy day of thrifting with Tania, who is completely awesome and has successfully made me just the teensiest bit sad that I'm leaving DC soon. (I mean, honestly, anyone who sends you home with amazing homemade cookies is a true friend.)

Such a cute and colourful look! :)

I have a question - do you have any recommendation for thrift shopping in amsterdam? I'm travelling there next month and I would love some advice from someone who has already been there! Thank you :)

I haven't found any red pants yet so I think I'm wearing yellow pants for next weeks EBEW. I still can't believe what good luck you have a thrift stores. I'm in awe.

This outfit is the perfect prelude for fall!

There were definitely a few good finds, but the be-all-and-end-all was the striped silk Diane Von Furstenberg dress for $8 - $8!! I never seem to find designer stuff, so I was absolutely floored - now I can't wait to wear it out for my birthday in a few weeks. :)

Thanks Ki! Unfortunately I didn't get to do any thrifting while I was in Amsterdam, but I would definitely recommend checking out the flea markets for great vintage stuff - they have loads of clothes, jewelry, watches, etc., and will usually bargain on prices. Definitely check out the Waterlooplein and Westerstraat markets. There are some great vintage stores and boutiques in the Negen Straatjes ('Nine Streets') area that are worth a look as well. Have a great trip!

Thanks! I've been seeing a lot of great looks on Pinterest that combine neutrals like tan or camel with bright red pants, I love how well they go together.

Ooh, I would love to find a good pair of yellow pants! I love the color of these, but I'm not crazy about the sort of
straight-legged fit, so I think I'm going to try and make the legs a bit
skinnier and ankle-length. I have definitely been having good thrifting luck lately, probably in large part due to the fact that I've been out looking more often these last few weeks. :)

It's true, the more you go the more you find. :)

This is a great rainy day outfit, and can I say how jealous I am of your brogues? I tried on a similar high-heeled pair last week, and if they hadn't been half a size too big, I'd be wearing them now. I love the little scallops on yours - this kind of shoe is very menswear, so a little feminine detail like this is great!

it was so so great to meet you! i'm so bummed that you're moving to new york. let's make plans for virginia thrifting this week (maybe tuesday?). you have a magic touch with a thrift store, and this outfit look just as good in photos as it did in person (fantastic).
