Happy Pattern-Mixing Day! Today's edition of EBEW feels like it might as well be an official blogger holiday. I've happily dabbled in some pattern mixing myself, and this floral (well, herbal) printed skirt has been the basis for a lot of my favorite looks incorporating mixed prints - I recently wore it with navy and white stripes, and paired it with a fun cat-print blouse a few months ago. I think the subtlety of the white-on-yellow print makes this an ideal piece for pairing with more graphic prints like stripes (or cats), and since pink and yellow has been a favorite color combination of mine for some time, I was surprised to realize I hadn't worn this skirt and sweater together yet. Finished with a white belt and a few gold accessories, this outfit was perfect for a breezy day-trip to historic Kutná Hora, home of the Sedlec Ossuary - a chapel decorated by Cistercian monks with the bones of over 40,000 people!

And home to some pretty sweet skeletal pattern-mixing, if you ask me!

Also, in a bit of blog housekeeping, I've recently installed a widget for Google Friend Connect, so if you'd like to follow the other emily through GFC, you can now find it in the right sidebar! And as always, you can also subscribe to posts via Bloglovin', Google Reader, RSS feed or email.

I love the color of this shirt, but I think I'm going to have to make some adjustments to the fit once I'm reunited with my sewing machine. For now it is pretty enormous, several sizes too large overall with a hemline that reaches mid-thigh, and yesterday I considered getting it to look reasonably tucked in to these jeans to be a serious accomplishment. I suppose someday I might actually become more discerning about how well my thrift store finds fit before purchasing them, but for now I'm happy to hide a few extra yards of fabric in the seat of my pants for the sake of a cheap blue blouse.

After a blessedly uneventful travel day yesterday, we are now happily settled into our new, Bohemian (har har) home - Prague! While our long stay in Berlin was wonderful, allowing us the luxury of time to explore the city and even begin to feel like quasi-locals, there is still a definite thrill that comes with arriving in a new country, with a new currency and language, new sights to see, and in this case, perhaps even a few new beers to sample down by the riverfront.

When deciding what to wear to explore a new city, generally the first thing I pick out is a pair of shoes. It's essential to wear something comfortable enough for a lot of walking, and since today's forecast called for rain, I went with these reasonably quick-drying canvas sneakers. I didn't quite know what to pair them with at first - I tend to wear them most often with skinny jeans, but with the cooler temperatures of the last week I've grown a little weary of pants, and the high humidity of the morning seemed to call for something lighter - but then I remembered this outfit of Jen's that I pinned ages ago, and immediately reached for my chambray shirt and a bright coral skirt. Looking at it now, it's funny just how faithfully I recreated the details of her outfit, right down to the cross-body bag and the silver bracelets.
