jacket - thrifted / dress - vintage via etsy / belt - vintage, thrifted / wood & brass bangle - vintage, thrifted / boots - Peter Kaiser, vintage via rummage sale
I didn't realize until putting together this post that everything I wore today is second-hand. It's silly, but wearing outfits that are entirely made up of items that are homemade or second-hand always gives me a little sense of satisfaction.
Today it was lovely and cool (and, ahem, seriously rainy - hence the porch photos), so I jumped at the chance to bring my favorite boots out of storage. I went to a rummage sale in Princeton* last summer with the way-too-specific-to-ever-work-out hope of finding a pair of vintage, cognac leather boots with a low heel and some kind of detail at the ankle, and immediately fished this pair of mint-condition boots made in West (!) Germany out of a rubber bin filled with shoes. They were my size, and they were.... $2. This is what dreams are made of, my friends.
*For any NJ readers, it was the annual White Elephant sale at the hospital - seriously, do not miss it!

LOVE this outfit! Everything goes together so well. Plus those boots are seriously amazing, I am very envious of you. I've been looking for similar boots for quite a while now. Hope I find some!
Those bots are incredible! I love how the ankle detail looks like stirrups.
I started typing up a comment and found myself basically saying exactly what Leah M. said, so just +1 to that! Also thanks for the tip on the Princeton rummage sale, looks like it's 10/15-16 this year, I'll definitely try to make the trip!
Love it! Super cute! I have been looking for a boots so similiar to those. I want a pair that have no heel at all, those would be perfect!
I LOVE that dress, it's got a bit of an African tribal feel to it.. I really want to get a jacket like yours for autumn, its got a little bit of a military feel to it but without feeling too rigid or structured, and it's a lovely length for waering dresses with.. The weather with me is horrible too so I'm (reluctantly) dragging out my winter clothes.. :(
You're standing on your tip-toes again, dear...but I forgive you because this dress is SO fabulous -- and I love these boots -- what a great story to go with them!
Love the dress - and at the boots. Seriously awesome find! Gotta find some cognac boots in my size next ;)
Those boots cannot have been two dollars - that's insane! They're gorgeous! I always read stories like this and think I need to get properly into thrifting. :)

This may be my most favorite of any of your recent outfits, and it's not just my longing for fall that makes me say so. The color palate is utter perfection, as is the accessorizing, and I'm lusting like mad over that print. Dreams, indeed. :)
This outfit is fall perfection - I love the way the long coat looks over the patterned dress. I am also in awe that you got those fabulous boots for $2! Lucky you!
Very nice, thanks for sharing.
