...I haven't done in the last five months - that I have done in the last five hours.
1. Worn polish.
Sunset Orange by Rimmel London, to be precise.
2. Gotten mail.
Both Pigeon Trading Post and that adorable cycling rat sticker are by awesome artist and friend Allison Sommers - check out more of her work here.
3. Driven a car.
Much less a big old pick-up truck, as seen here.
4. Eaten tacos.
And yes, that is a margarita in the background - I know how to lunch.
5. Hung out with these guys.
Yes, the mystery of where we are now (and why I haven't exactly been posting regularly) can be put to bed - we're back stateside for the next month, and currently visiting my folks in Virginia. We hadn't planned to come back for a visit mid-trip (we'd actually planned to be in Russia this month) but a number of unexpected factors conspired to bring us back for a little vacation from our vacation. We'll be back to our lives of international mystery next month, but for now it's nice to slow down a little and enjoy being home.

You're in VA?! That's soo cool! Have fun seeing your parents!! Let me know if you're near the DC area and want to catch up :)
Where in VA are you from? I'm from WV. Enjoy your vacation, vacation! :)
so glad you're able to spend time visiting family and i hope it isn't for sad reasons :) and yes you do know how to lunch!
awww home again! how long will you be home? christopher and i are taking a trip up north sometime in the next month (likely early june)--and were just talking about going to virginia! (me, you, and @megannielsen:disqus could meet up :)
Ooh, yes! We're in Alexandria, so definitely in the area. :)
I grew up in NoVa (Arlington/Alexandria), then went to college in Charlottesville. Where are you from in WV? I actually used to spend most of my weekends there when I was a kid, going whitewater canoeing with my dad.
Fortunately it's for mostly mundane reasons (money/visas, lack thereof), but thank you dear. Plus, this way I get to quit hauling around my winter coat and boots everywhere we go from here on out!
We're back for just shy of a month, with a visit up to Chris's family in Massachusetts somewhere in there, and leaving again in mid-June. Let me know if you guys wind up visiting VA, I think a meet-up would definitely be in order! :)
Enjoy home! There is something so comforting and relaxing about home after being away for so long. Loving the earrings on you! So happy you like them.
it must feel really good to be home for a spell. is russia still on the itinerary? its always been a dream of mine to go!
my man got his m.arch (path c) at uva, and i lived in cville for 3 years. :) we usually go down around this time of year (after the students have graduated and left town, heh), but we're actually taking a trip to pittsburgh instead.
if you happen to pass through philly or brooklyn, let me know!
What a fun mini-break! Enjoy your time stateside. :)
I'm so happy to see that you're getting a Mexican food fix!
I can really relate to this post...little things that I don't always think about, like that I haven't driven (not once!) in eight and a half months!
My goodness, that is close! How cool! I think a little meet up would be fun if you're up for it!
I grew up and now live between Charleston and Huntington in a small town called Eleanor (named at Eleanor Roosevelt). Went to school in the north in Morgantown at WVU. My husband is from the eastern panhandle area near Caanan Valley/Blackwater Falls area.
ive already seen this post but am waaay behind on commenting....
while im sad i cant vicariously visit russia with you, i AM glad you get to spend some time stateside with mexican food and fur babies! :)
I think we should definitely plan a little meet-up once I'm back in the DC area - maybe sometime this weekend/early next week? Let me know what would work for you! :)
It's so true - it's been so nice to just spend the days making a big breakfast, doing a little sewing, and reading books. I hadn't realized how much I'd love taking a vacation from our vacation. :)
Sadly, it looks like we won't be making it to Russia on this trip, which is a shame - but I suppose one always needs a reason to go back to Europe, right?
Thanks hon! It's going to be so strange to go back now, just when I was getting used to using dollars again!
Yes! Clearly, I had my first-few-days-back priorities in order - tacos always come first. :)
Cutest/saddest thing ever? Since we got back, we let Winston sleep in our room at my parents' house, and every night he wakes me up around 4am looking for affection - I think he's actually checking to make sure we're still there!
