earrings - handmade by Carie, won in Pretty Little Mountains giveaway / blouse - Target / ring - Nasty Gal / overdyed skinnies - Zara / sandals - Target, thrifted

I hope you all like my jewelry in these photos, because you will definitely be seeing a lot more of it. Both these incredible earrings (designed and made by Carie of Pretty Little Mountains) and this giant ring were waiting for me in the mail when we got back from Europe, and they both just make me feel so, well, badass, that I haven't stopped wearing them since. I can't wait until Carie opens an etsy shop to sell her jewelry, because I am absolutely in love with these earrings and can't wait to see more of her designs.

Also worn on repeat was the rest of this outfit, first for an excellent dinner out with my parents and then for a day spent rummaging through all the stuff we've been storing in their basement. I love how a slightly oversized blouse can transition so seamlessly from feeling 'dressed up' to completely casual, and I can tell this one I picked up while running errands is going to fast become a staple in my wardrobe.

Unfortunately my rummaging wasn't quite as successful as my impromptu shopping trip - I've been obsessed for months with digging up a pair of vintage Dansko sandals my high school boyfriend's mom gave me, but I'm afraid they must have been donated in one of my mothers great semi-annual closet purges sometime in the last decade. Now I'm on the lookout for the perfect pair of '70s style sandals - cognac leather (natch'), low platform with a bit of a heel (but nothing crazy), open toe and an ankle strap - any great recommendations? (These Swedish Hasbeens are, sadly, way out of my budget.)

Thanks so much Emily! You are the sweetest. I'm working on the designs now, plan on opening shop in mid-June. Will keep you posted. Love the green shirt. I'm  in love with my new knock-off Hasbeens, I got them here( http://www.urbanoutfitters.com/urban/catalog/productdetail.jsp?id=20291795&itemdescription=true&navAction=jump&color=020&selectedProductSize=false). They have cognac, too.

I love that outfit -- I've been wearing loose blouses/tunics and skinny pants all week! It's so easy but oh so stylish, too.

I have a pair of clog-like sandals from Target that are very 70's and amazingly comfortable, and they sound like something you're looking for, maybe?: http://www.target.com/Mossimo-Supply-Co-Wilette-Nailhead/dp/B004BDLPP6/ref=sc_qi_detaillink

I love that blouse. The color, the fit, everything. So pretty! Bonus points for the sock-bun which I am COMPLETELY and utterly obsessed with right now.

And I've been doing some wearing around the house, just to make sure they don't eat my feet alive. They seem to be working out well!

I bought these from DSW http://www.dsw.com/shoe/jellypop+garlie+sandal?prodId=218779&brand=dsw12brand7400004

Same silhouette as the Hasbeens but different color, leather, low platform but a little heel, ankle strap, etc. Definitely 70s feeling.

And those earrings are pretty badass!

wow. i just found your blog (via wwanw), and i LOVE it. i especially love this post. i saw that shirt at target and it was one of those "wow, that looks interesting..what would i do with it?" you take so many semi-practical semi-quirky pieces and make them look awesome. love the jeans, too. cannot wait to read more!

Thanks Naomi! That's awesome, I am a huge fan of using accessories to bring a little something extra to an outfit. :)

Ah, that's awesome news! I'm so excited to see  the new designs. :) Aaaand those sandals are pretty seriously adorable...

Ha! I think within twenty-four hours of writing this post, I found myself at Target (yet again - this has been a bit of theme since I've been back in the US) and I picked up those very same sandals! I left them in Virginia when we came up to MA (whoops), but you'll be seeing them here on the blog very soon. :)

Oh no! I hate when new shoes I love start to fall apart quickly, it's so disheartening! Glad yours were at least able to be repaired, all the Hasbeen for H&M are super-cute!

O.M.G. I had never heard of the sock-bun technique before you left this comment, so I immediately googled it, and man - now I am completely obsessed too!! It's so easy, and it always comes out flawlessly! Much better than my old technique. I even had two girls come up to me on a bus to NYC to ask how I did my perfect bun!

emily said...

Ooh, those are adorable! Great colors too.... wonder how much grief I would get from my boyfriend if I bought another pair of sandals.... :)

emily said...

Cute! I love the crossover detail on the vamp, it's actually a little more elegant than the Hasbeens but still keeps that seventies vibe.

emily said...

Me too - for some reason, Target is just nailing it with colors lately. They have a ton of different items in this 'seaweed' color... and I might already have picked up a matching tank...

emily said...

Thanks Chelsea, and welcome! Hee, I think 'semi-practical semi-quirky' could be the best description I've heard of my style yet - it's not totally over the top, but I do try to keep things interesting. :)

Hi -- I saw this post and thought I'd let you know how I snag my swedish hasbeens ... I search through "warehouse deals" on amazon.com, and because I know my size (39) I've purchased FOUR pairs now, all under $100, and I think the cheapest were about $50.  They're really great shoes (I'm completely addicted now) and you should try some if you get a chance!
