untucked
necklace - Anthropologie / tank - Anthropologie / tote - German convention freebie / braided chain bracelet - homemade / watch - Arkonaplatz flea market, Berlin / skirt - Target / sandals - Target, thrifted
Like Tania, I have just a little bit of an obsession with belting things; sometime over the last few years, I decided that defining my waist was the most flattering way to dress my somewhat curvy figure, and now every time I put on a skirt, I just instinctively tuck in my top, throw on a belt, and call it done. So imagine my surprise when while getting dressed the other day I caught a glimpse of my as-yet-un-tucked shirt in the mirror and - gasp - actually liked the outfit better that way. There's something so perfectly unfussy about an untucked shirt, and it certainly didn't hurt that I felt like I was wearing classy pajamas all day.
We took these photos on a visit to the East Side Gallery, a 1 km section of the Berlin Wall that's been kept intact and painted by artists. Naturally I gravitated right to the mural that best matched my outfit, a giant black and hot pink face (my head only comes up to the mouth!) that was part of a huge stretch of colorful faces. Speaking of faces, I'm sorry for the recent overload of glamour shots of my new watch - I picked it up for a measly three euros at the flea market over the weekend, and I am completely enamored with it. I kind of want to get my initials engraved on the clasp, if only for the ridiculousness of paying more for the engraving than I did for the watch itself!

I love the easy flow of this outfit. You look so comfortable. Also, I really like the way that bracelet looks paired with the watch.
i love the simplicity and comfyness this outfit has. your bracelet and watch make a great pair!
untucked also gives you some added length: you look so tall in these photos! that watch is way rad, especially for 3 euro! woot!
You look beautiful in pink! And you're inspiring me to tuck less. =)

what a breath of fresh air this outfit is
cute blog! like that pink background and that maxi looks so good on u!
very simple top but I love it so much ;)
I love the handmade bracelet, I've been wanting to make one for ages and yours is so good I am seriously considering it now.
Thank you! This was definitely the perfect, comfortable outfit for a fairly warm day - no sweat from a snug belt. :)
Thanks Danielle! I love combining gold with bright summery colors like aqua or coral, they always look so cheery together.
Haha, well I'm always happy to grab some height, even if it's only an illusion! :)
Thanks Julie, it's definitely my favorite color to wear. And I'm glad I gave an untucked shirt a shot, I've been avoiding it needlessly for so long!
Thank you! :)
Thanks! This skirt was definitely a great investment for traveling, super easy to dress up or down and it never gets wrinkly.
Thanks Claire. This is actually the second pink tank I bought like this from Anthro - the first one I got on clearance, and got a big wine stain on it the first time I wore it! So I went back a few days later and grabbed this one, and I dyed the stained one orange. :)
Thanks Louise! I want to make a ton of these once we're back in the US and I have all my craft supplies again - I made this one using this tutorial on Honestly WTF.
I love me some Berlin Wall--the way it is now. RIP Berliner Mauer !!!
I love the goldtone with your aqua bracelet! So pretty!

I love this outfit on you! Perhaps the pink wall behind you has something to do with it, but you look beautiful here. The silhouette of it just is so flattering! Been reading for awhile, first time commenting. So jealous of your trip - I hope it's as fabulous as it's looked! :)
definite change with the untucked shirt! sometimes it just works better and surprise outfits are the best! Love that watch, such an amazing find!! The Berlin wall is one of my favorite sights in Berlin and it suits you :)
It's such a strange and surreal landmark, and it's so hard for me to imagine living in a divided city - it's definitely a fascinating history.
Thanks Jennine!
(Is it too dorky to admit I'm a little starstruck that you stopped by and commented on my blog? Probably. You're just such a force in the blogging world.)
Aw, thank you so much! Pink is definitely a magnet for me these days. :)
And we have definitely been enjoying our traveling life of leisure - hard to believe it will be over in only a month, yikes!
Totally agree, this was definitely a lesson in keeping an open mind about my 'style rules!'
It changed your look for sure and I like it!
Thanks Linda! :)
Its so crazy when you recognize places and whatnot! I was actually in Berlin a couple weeks ago and stayed in a hostel right by the East Side Gallery. Isnæt it so cool?
