This is not what I'd originally planned to wear for today's special thrift edition of EBEW - I'd had an awesome, 100% thrifted outfit in mind for about a week now. Unfortunately, the weather was not interested in cooperating with my plans (which included shorts, again), and this morning all I wanted to put on were some jeans and a sweater - and somehow, despite the fact that about a third of my current wardrobe is second-hand, all of my jeans and sweaters were purchased new. Suddenly, my cold, rainy day seemed like the perfect time to go check out the massive second-hand store down the street from our apartment (how I'd resisted its gravitational pull 'til now, I'll never know). Suffice to say, I hit the jackpot, and it took enormous willpower not to bring home more than might reasonably fit in my suitcase for the rest of our trip.
This sheer, ombre blouse was one of my finds of the day - I love finding trendier items like this while thrifting, because it lets me try out the trend with very little financial investment, and once I'm over it, I can always re-donate. For now, I'm looking forward to trying out some more daring ways to wear this blouse, along with my other purchases. (Just wait 'til you see you the crazy printed pants I bought - hello, Man Repeller!)

Ombre!!!! I love it!!!
Love this outfit! That shirt is just gorgeous and looks great with dark jeans. Your shoes are adorable too.
wow, that is a seriously cute blouse! What a great find!! And on the day of the EBEW! Cool. Can't wait to see the other things :)
how lovely!
Oooh, what a great find. That color is beautiful! I agree about thrifting being a great way to try out trends. I have a midi-length skirt that I paid $5 for, and I feel super-trendy whenever I wear it.
Love that outfit! What a gorgeous color!! :)

Gorgeous!! Such a perfect outfit. If you're really into thrifting, I host a photo thrifting link up each week on my blog. I'd love to have you post sometime!

Seriously? I love this colour- what a great find, and the accessories are perfect. I love the vibrant orange against all the green too!

I loved thrifting in Holland. I wished I could fill up a POD and send it home to the US. The clothing was a bit spendy and scarce, but the housewares and furniture were thriftopia.
Isn't it crazy? Definitely not something I was expecting to find! :)
Thanks Ritu! I wore the bottom half of this outfit on my shopping trip, and I when I tried on the blouse I liked the combination so much that I just changed my top once I got home - I love when things just work out like that!
Thanks Anya - I know, what good timing too! Definitely excited about my other purchases too, I need to hurry up and give everything a hand-washing so I can start wearing them!
Thanks Lynne!
Thanks Emily! Ah, you're so lucky to have found a good midi-skirt - I've been hoping to just stumble across the perfect pleated, mid-length skirt all summer and still no luck. I'll just have to keep trying. :)
Thanks Devin, I don't usually wear a lot of orange so it's nice to have something different in my wardrobe!
Thanks Meagan!
Thank you! I tend to shy away from orange - my undergrad school colors were orange & navy blue, and grad school's were orange & black, so sometimes orange still feels a little too 'dressed for a football game' to me, ha! Hopefully I can start getting over it now. :)
Thanks Julie, I definitely got lucky on this thrifting trip. :)
I can't even bring myself to look at the housewares - I am obsessed with mid-century modern furniture and kitchenware (especially my one true love, Catherine Holm), but I know there's no way I can really bring anything back to the States with me - and if I did, I'd then be faced with moving it across the country! So I don't look, it would hurt too much to find something amazing!
Beautiful color - reminds me of a tequila sunrise!
Hi, so I was wondering where you got the earring youalways wear in your cartilage piercing? I really love the unusual color and shape!
Haha, so true! And now I want a cocktail. :)
I've had it for ages so I don't remember with 100% certainty, but I'm pretty sure it was one of a pair that was a gift from my mom. She does a lot of business travel in the southwest and she often brings back some lapis lazuli jewelry for me.
saw you on EBEW, love your outfit! the top is such a great thrift find, love the color and your oxfords-to die for!

Thanks Amanda! These shoes probably have a cost-per-wear in the negative numbers by now, I bought them in the UK for only 8 pounds and I've worn them countless times since then. :)
Pretty! I love the loose blouse + skinny jeans...perfect for summer.
Thanks! I couldn't agree more, and it's a look that transitions so easily to fall with a light jacket too.
I love this look! Super trendy and I am totally into that color of blouse! You look fantabulous! Cheers!
