necklace - Anthropologie / linen blazer - vintage, thrifted / tote - Forever 21 / striped linen top - vintage, thrifted / belt - vintage, thrifted / ring - shop in Amsterdam / skirt - refashioned from dress, UO / woven flats - UO

Remember this dress? Well, after hemming and hawing over it for a few days, I chopped off the top and made it into a skirt! I love it this way, the length is a little more comfortable and it seems much more versatile and flattering to me now. I wore this outfit for a lovely day-trip to Bonn yesterday. The weather finally took a turn for the truly sunny and warm, so I actually wound up spending most of the day carrying my blazer around in my bag.

Also, I just couldn't help my nerdiness - the title of this post is a three-way pun! 'Bon temps' can mean either 'good times' or 'good weather,' and we had both in Bonn! Oh, I slay me.

The dress is cute, but I think I like it better as a skirt as well.

This dress looks fabulous converted!  I also really love the Anthro necklace.

You slay me, too!  You're funny, it's true, and you're rocking the shiz out of this outfit.  Love the neutral with the richness of the skirt.  Look out, Germany!

Also, Bon Temps is the name of the town where Sookie Stackhouse lives in True Blood.  As a confessed TB addict, I had to make mention of this fact.

Love what you did with the dress! I'm sure you'll get much more use out of it now!

hehe, love the play with the title and glad you like Germany (my home country) so much! Love what you did to the dress, it looks just awesome as a skirt and I would have never guessed it was a dress before! Also looks a lot fancier now! Well done!!

Thanks Kara - for me, the dress was really all about the bottom half anyway. :)

Thank you! I love this necklace too, for some reason it spent the last year or so in a neglected corner of my jewelry box, but I'm so glad to have recently rediscovered it.

Oh snap, FOUR WAY REFERENCE? So good. I've been meaning to start watching True Blood for ages - just need to the get the boyfriend over his fear of sexy vampires.

Thanks Kerry!

Thanks Danielle, I'm really happy with the way it turned out. :)

I definitely think I'll get more wear out of it now - I love dresses, but skirts are so much more versatile for the constant remixing of travel!

Thanks Anja, we are definitely loving it here in Germany! Hehe, and you're totally right, it does look fancier now. :)

You slay me, too. Bonn times, Bonn times...

Anyway, I adore this outfit, and I think I adore that dress even more as this darling skirt! PERFECT with the blouse and blazer, too.

As much as I adored this as a dress - I've got to agree, I love it even more as a skirt. It looks soooo adorable on you!! Gosh I want to just copy all your colour palettes now...

absolutely love all of the detail shots you take, they add so much to the overall feel of the outfits you post!

I'm in Bonn!  Sounds like you're already on to bigger and better things however.  Bonn does seem to have a propensity for naming things "Bonn voyage" and so forth.  So... Bonn chance nach Berlin!

Oh, love that linen top by the way!

Well, I will be looking for a job when we get back... do you offer health insurance? :)

Thank you, Julie! Pink is definitely my favorite color to wear, it always feels flattering and goes so well with my favorite gold & cognac accessories. :)

I just can't resist a good pun - definitely inherited that from my Dad.

And I definitely have no regrets about making this into a skirt, now I get to enjoy pairing it with all kinds of different tops! I'd love to try it with a tomato red shirt for some of that sweet, slightly clashy colorblock action.

Thanks Heidi! We started taking them because I'm just not much of a poser (arms at sides, hand on hip.... that's pretty much it!) and I felt like a lot of my smaller jewelry and details were getting lost in the 'overall' shots - I'm so glad you like them too!

Oh no! I was going to email you before we went, but I thought you were back in Barcelona! It feels a bit like we are destined to keep criss-crossing one another's paths through Europe without actually intersecting - while I was in Barcelona, you were in London, then while I was in London, you were in Barcelona! Sigh.

Emily_RubySlippers said...

I probably was in Barcelona. ; )  I just got to Bonn on Friday night.  Kind of wish I was in Berlin instead though!

I'm way behind on commenting on these, so I'll keep this one short: skirt = magic.
