Yesterday was pretty amazing - Chris and I took a trip out to Montserrat (whose name literally means "jagged mountain" in Catalan) and spent the whole day hiking up and down the mountain's highest peak. It's a pretty incredible place, and although we took the first train there and the last train back, there is still so much we didn't get to explore! I suppose we'll just have to go back someday...

Sant Jeroni, Montserrat
I'm still struggling to find better ways to wear this vintage button-down, although it was pretty much the perfect thing to wear hiking. I absolutely love the color and print, and it's super soft and comfy, but I think the fit is less than ideal. It falls somewhere in between actually fitting me and being truly oversized, so the final effect is less "effortlessly oversized" and more "pajama top." I'd hoped that tucking the front in might help keep things a little more tailored, but I'm afraid it just ended up underscoring the boxiness. Next time I think I'll have to try layering it under something a bit more fitted (like I did here) and leaving it untucked.

We took about a gazillion photos of the beautiful landscape and semi-ruined 15th century buildings (the mountain is still home to a Benedictine monastery), but here are just a few of my favorites.

Hey! I just found your blog and loved it, you outfits are so cute and wearable, Monserrat is so pretty so many beautiful landscapes ... Great pictures btw! ... About the top? hum cannot see anything wrong, guess being a little oversized and flowy was its mission!

All my gorgeous pictures are entirely the genius of my super-talented significant other. Sometimes he gives me advice on my outfits too, although that doesn't always work out so well!

I think you are right about the shirt, I just need to let it do its thing and maybe balance it out with some skinnier pants.

Wow, stunning shots! And that shirt is such a pretty print. I think it looks great, but I can understand how it fits may make you feel otherwise. I agree with your reply to Cecelia; maybe the skinniest pants you can stand would help balance it all out.

1. awesome bangs which make me want to get bangs
2. laidback shoes with the beautiful top
3. cool sunglasses
i can't believe it's taken me so long to get my butt over here; i love your blog! consider yourself the newest addition to my blogroll.

Yeah, I'm thinking maybe some dark cigarette jeans and ankle boots with a bit more heel would totally help out the proportions here. (Although maybe not my post-hiking sore legs, eesh!)

I had such a hard time picking and choosing which photos to post, Chris took so many incredible shots. I definitely recommend the trip out to this amazing place for anyone visiting Barcelona - on top of being beautiful, it was a really nice break from the otherwise constant (although, admittedly, awesome) onslaught of city streets, art museums, and old cathedrals :)

Haha, thanks so much Tania! Word to wise regarding the bangs though - should you decide to cut your own asymmetrical bangs in a grossly underlit bathroom, be prepared for the inevitable mid-cut panic. I freaked and begged my poor, unsuspecting boyfriend's advice, and we wound up communicating through crude cartoon diagrams because his hairstyle vocabulary is evidently limited to "swoopy" and "not swoopy enough."

hahah, awesome. i will prep christopher on a suitable vocabulary for bang-advisement should i decide to cut mine. or maybe i should just get you to come over and cut them for me?
